Sourcing Transportation:
Over one-fifth of all
transportation expenditures are incurred via long-term carrier
contracts. In the US alone, this is estimated at nearly a
half a trillion dollars ($484 billion) of annual transportation
spend -50% of total US Business Logistics costs ($970 billion).
With contracted carrier spend encompassing 50% of total
logistics cost, it is imperative that shippers secure the
most competitive
rates available, while maintaining the service levels that
their business demands. But establishing and managing carrier
contracts can be a very tedious and time-consuming process,
often resulting in shippers and carriers spending valuable
time and resources negotiating and securing contracts.
